At midnight on June 18th, Hurricane Erick impacted the Oaxacan Coast as a Category 4 storm. Over four hours, strong winds affected the coastline, and waves surged over the Mission Base’s front wall. The damage was limited to a fallen tree that destroyed the children’s playground equipment and roof damage to the Guesthouse. The roof will need to be replaced. There were no fatalities!

Pastor Duane noted that the hurricane deposited much-needed sand and dirt against the eroding Mission Base wall; a blessing in disguise!

We ask for your prayers and financial support for La Boquilla, our new church plant in northern Oaxaca. This region was hardest hit by the hurricane.  The roof of Cristel and Eva’s house was partially blown off, and their water tank was damaged. All their personal belongings were soaked, and they were without electricity for many days. Pastor Avelino is delivering food and roofing supplies this week. If you would like to be part of the relief effort, you can give below.
